Other online databases of our archival holdings

If you cannot find what you are looking for in our online archive catalogue, it is worth searching Hertfordshire Names Online, A2A and the NRA.

  • Hertfordshire Names Online, is an online database of many of our indexes for local and family history sources, such as apprenticeships, settlement orders and fatalities.
  • Discovery: The National Archives' catalogue incorporates the Access to Archives, National Register of Archives and the Manorial Documents Register resources. As well as information about the records of central government, courts of law and other UK national bodies, Discovery contains catalogues of archive repositories across England and Wales including some for Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies and gives the location of manorial documents, like court books, surveys and rentals, of Hertfordshire manors.

  • Hertfordshire Libraries Catalogue includes our holdings of published local history books and film collection.
  • Hospital Records Database, provides details about the existence and location of the records of UK hospitals, including those that have since closed, and gives information about the types of records (e.g. administrative) and their covering dates.
  • The National Archives’ Catalogue, contains descriptions of documents of central government, courts of law and other UK national bodies, which are held at the National Archives (formerly the Public Record Office).
